About Orapax Restaurant and Bar
We are fully open for dine in, take out, and delivery!! In 1966, Louis Seretis purchased a small confectionary. He named it Orapax for the street upon which the front door opened. Longshoremen, railroad workers, and other locals came to play pool and purchase medicine, cigars, beer, and a "Poormans Sandwich", spam and cheese on white bread. In 1973 Louis replaced the sandwich with his own original Greek pizza. The result was truly astonishing! Orapax become known throughout Norfolk as "The Place to Eat". His son Nick joined him in the family business in 1982. Now some 50 years later Nicksβ daughter Nicole is walking in her father's and Grandfather's shoes. Orapax is their dining room. Welcome to our house!
Before you go
- Ask about allergens when you order: US food law names nine major allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy and sesame), and kitchens can tell you which dishes contain them.
- Restaurant inspection results are kept by the city or county health department; many publish them online or post the latest grade at the door.
- For table service a tip of 15β20% is customary; at counter-service places tipping is optional.

Fabulous food! The service was excellent as well. Our waitress was helpful, attentive, and nice. We had the Greek sampler, Corfu chicken sandwich, chicken souvlaki, and baklava. Everything was top notch except the baklava. It was a little bit tough and kind of chalky. The rest of the food was so good though that I canβt even consider giving this place less than five stars. Iβll be coming back often.

We had an amazing experience. This restaurant was recommended by a coworker and we are so happy we listened. The food was excellent. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Our waitress Piper was fantastic. We loved everything and we will definitely be back.

If you park on the street BEWARE. I was almost hit twice pulling out. The roads are designed funky and pulling out can get you hit. The Gyro Sandwich was avg. The Wonton Chicken Pizza was really good. I loved the hot honey sauce drizzled on top.

Orapax restaurant has been a family-run local favorite for many decades. Their menu is varied and they offer lunch and daily specials with many options for vegetarians and vegans. Their food is fresh and well prepared and never disappoints. The restaurant is clean, comfortable and inviting. It is the perfect place for a date or special occasion. Prices are competitive. Service is always professional and welcoming. They can get very busy so call ahead for wait times or reservations. Service can be a little slow during peak times but their food is worth the wait and their meals are meant to be savoured. Orapax has the very best Greek and Mediterranean food in Norfolk and is not to be missed.

Orapax is a warm, family-run Mediterranean restaurant in Norfolk. It combines a large, accommodating dining room with a genuine neighborhood feel. The Food: π¬π· Greek Sampler Platter. A great introduction to the menu. It features nine different offerings, but the Dolmades were a standout with spiced ground beef finished with a bright lemon sauce. π₯ Saganaki. Served with wonderful flair! The flaming cheese was a great companion to the complimentary basket of fresh baked Greek bread. π₯£ Grain Bowl: A fresh and hearty option. The mix of fresh and pickled vegetables on a wild rice base was excellent, especially when paired with the feta and the cooling tzatziki/spicy cilantro sauce. Service: Special thanks to Hanna for the attentive and professional service. It was also a pleasure to meet Nicole, representing the next generation of the founding family. Tip: Check out their weekly and daily Happy Hour specials. They offer even greater value and discounts on an already reasonably priced menu. Overall: A great family-friendly restaurant serving generous plates at a fair price.
